So, again, I don’t really expect anyone to get a truly good idea of what the dresses looked like from this massive collage, but it does give you a vague idea of how many designers showed sheer pieces or pieces with sheer elements.
It seems to me that every American fashion blogger I follow is currently (or at least for the last few seasons) worshipping Mr. Alexander Wang. So with a dress like this:
in his Spring/Summer 2009 show, you had to know more sheer dresses were coming for fall. Obviously sheer is nothing new, but I thought the style was consistent enough to be worth noting.
Dresses like Alexander Wang’s – both the Spring/Summer black dress and the Fall/Winter white dress (at bottom left) – and from other designers, like the Ferragamo, the Proenza Schouler, and the Stella McCartney appeared frequently. An opaque torso, frequently a slim, body-con number with sheer shoulders and/or sleeves – it’s almost like layering.
