I’ve been feeling pretty uninspired in the clothing department.  Also super stressed as this semester entailed more work than I’d thought.  Only three more weeks!

In order to put off writing my papers I thought I’d share these in the hopes that maybe I’d find something interesting to wear tomorrow morning for my day in the library (hint: it’ll be jeans and a tshirt and sneakers again… oh well…)

Resort 2010

So the resort shows are kind of old news, but I’ve been slowly making my way through them.  I know everyone’s talking about the couture shows, but since couture isn’t in my budget (although resort isn’t really, either) I thought I’d go for the looks I could actually try and replicate or lust after.

visual notes

Visual notes/thoughts on clothes/looks/styles for summer.  AKA my thoughts on getting dressed these days.  Also a wish-list of sorts

(I scanned, but I’m not sure from where, sorry) great basics for summer – simple shapes, light colors.  Looks great.  The bottom could be pants, shorts or a skirt and it would be equally as wonderful.

(again I scanned this from a French magazine, but I’m not sure which one) A more complicated summer look – the blazer is definitely too much for where I live, but still cute. I’m closer to embracing athletic apparel in non-athletic situations, but it’s been slow.

(from’s lookbook) very nice and simple.  Ever since I saw Coco avant Chanel I’ve been searching for a great striped shirt.  This one from Rag & Bone on is $115 – more than I’d like to spend on a basic piece like that.  Pretty, though.  Shorts are great too.

(from 3.1 Phillip Lim 2010 resort – I looooooove the jacket, and the skirt, and the shirt… ok, I just love.

jenni kayne resort 2010

(also from Jenni Kayne resort 2010 – great colors and a great way to toughen up a sweet little dress/skirt.  I’m not sure how I feel about the lack of collar on the jacket, but I definitely like the general idea.

It’s nice to dream, but mostly it’s too hot to wear anything interesting.  My first concern is not melting and the second is looking good, and the third is not freezing in air conditioning.  Oh well, soon it will be winter and I’ll be wishing it were summer…

When I get home, it really won’t be the time to redecorate my room (I’m going to be a senior in college next year) but I can’t help wanting to anyway.  I mean, my room hasn’t really changed since I was in 9th grade (when I painted the pastel purple walls sky blue) and a lot of my things still suffer from middle school.  So at the very least I’m painting some furniture.

Regardless, I like shopping for ideas, and here are some images I liked…

I can’t construct a platform in the middle of my room and I don’t really have room for a lounge, but maybe one day (all though I might be more inclined to get something more couch like.

This just looks like such a cozy bedroom nook.  I think the morning light helps, but I think that would be a fun room, or bed nook.

It’s a little too red for me, but I like the canopy and the wrought iron frame that doesn’t look super cheesy.

The Shore Club in Miami, I’ve never been, but I like all the lanterns and pillows and the way it’s curtained in.  I want to put up curtains in my room but I don’t need the privacy, there’s a fan in the middle of the ceiling and the ceiling slopes on two sides, so…  Plus my room’s really not big enough for a curtain to make any sort of sense, it would just divide up the room.

I guess my influence is pretty clear, a sort of Indian/Middle Eastern decor.  I wouldn’t want to go too overboard, but a theme wouldn’t be bad.  I know I’m not ending up anywhere like this for my first apartment (Ikea chic, I guarantee) but I guess that’s where touches come in – sheer curtains, lanterns? candles? patterns? colors?  We’ll see…

(I’m sorry I don’t remember all the exact sources for the images, the Shore Club image is from their site, the one of the hallway is from a Moroccan rental company and the others are either from Domino or my new favorite decorating blog Rang Decor.  At least I’m pretty sure that’s where they’re all from…)

dsquaredc2b21Can I just say that I loved the Starbucks and BlackBerries (BlackBerrys?) on the runway?

Fashion Week fall 2009 – Diane von Furstenberg

dvff091I guess it really helps to be a full-time fashion blogger to keep up with Fashion Week.  I’ve been checking out the collections as they come out, but I haven’t had time to compile and write about everything I love.  So here’s Diane von Furstenberg…

Prefall for now

So, I know it’s not time yet and everyone’s focusing on Spring (even with fall/winter ’09 fashion week starting tomorrow in New York) but it’s still cold, and I’m still looking for ideas for winter, so these are some prefall looks I like from Matthew Williamson, Nina Rici and Proenza Schouler for prefall ’09

my thoughts…
