Spring: the first part of the alphabet

So I’m going through all the spring collections again to see what I missed (which is a lot because I didn’t have regular access to the internet during fashion week) and here are some of my finds (that I didn’t already post):

Too young and no real reason for a suit, but maybe someday.  So classy but casual but cool.

Barbara Tfank

A little girlier than I normally do, but I like the cut of the pants and I think the jacket/top is cute.

Super cool…

Danielle Scutt

Casual and easy to copy, shorts are sort of unflattering though, I’d go for something a little better.

Diane von Furstenberg

Very pretty, I like the metallic skirt.

Both in the vein of rock and roll prep which I love.  Not crazy about the jeans in the second picture, but the first one is great, I wish I had the nerve to mix patterns like that.

Dries van Noten

Maybe a little dressy/preppy for me,but it feels like summer…

I guess I need a pair of colored jeans for spring…

And of course, the basic white…

Runway trend: Strong Shoulders

from top – left to right: 3.1 Phillip Lim, Balmain, Alberta Feretti, Zac Posen, Richard Chai, Nina Ricci, Michael Kors, Marc Jacobs, Luis Vuitton, Gucci, Fendi, Dries van Noten, Doo.Ri, Donna Karan, Diane von Furstenberg, Derek Lam, Costume National, Calvin Klein, Balmain- again, oops!)

So this is a huge collage, I know, I don’t actually expect anyone to be able to see every photo, it’s mostly to show the number of designers that showed the look…

I was born too late in the 80s to have really participated in them or to remember them, but from the pictures I’ve seen, I don’t want them to come back.  Unfortunately, the designers in the fashion world don’t share my opinion.  Just about every runway review I read on mentioned the 80s.

The strong shoulders here aren’t too bad.  Some of them, though remind me of the fins on an old Cadillac (see Balmain, Zac Posen).

Just so long as the linebacker shoulders stay in the 80s (or on the football field) I’m fine with this one.

Fashion Week fall 2009 – Diane von Furstenberg

dvff091I guess it really helps to be a full-time fashion blogger to keep up with Fashion Week.  I’ve been checking out the collections as they come out, but I haven’t had time to compile and write about everything I love.  So here’s Diane von Furstenberg…
